Foundation Comparison for the Pale Warm Skined

Submitted by Sara on May 20, 2009 – 3:22 pm4 Comments

Below are the foundations I use, When I buy foundation I am typically ” the lightest one they have” Even the lightest seems to be to dark most of the time. In Mac I am NW15 and NW5 powder to finish. If I use the matching powder it tends to not match… weird. Yes I know. I have had the most success with MAC Studio Fix Fluid. Though when Sculpt and shape came out I tried it instead hoping for a super matte finish… I really am not in love with it. I tend to mix it with face and body and am more pleased with that result.

Its funny though. When you compare the lightest in every brand. They still are much darker than each other. I am unsure if my search for the perfect foundation will ever end, but I have found a few good ones. See list below

1-Revlon
I really like this. The coverage is awesome and its so light on the skin. For drugstore I am very impressed! However even in the lightest shade most times during the year it is still too dark.
2-Revlon Color Stay 110 Ivory(oil/combo)
I love this as well. I think this is a perfect match for me. Its light on the skin and great coverage. This foundation is truly a winner. Especially during a BOGO sale!
3-Mac Mineralize Skinfinish Liquid in NW200
Looks a little dark in swatches but does well to adjust to my skin. I sometimes like the sheen it gives off.. but most of the time I prefer the matte look.
4-MAC Face and Body N1- Its funny. We seem to always be searching for the new best thing, I know I am. I have been going to mac for years. Since the beginning I have dealt with the same Makeup Artists at my store. They constantly tell me to try face and body and yet I refused. Feeling like the new products would do the job I needed. Well 4 years later. Oldie but goo die has proved to be true. Its light on my skin. The shade matches incredibly well. You can mix with anything.. Other foundations, bronzers, moisturizer, etc! Its truly something everyone should add to their collection! Only complaint is alone… coverage is not as heavy as I like…
5-MAC Sculpt and Shape in NW15
I like this. But I feel like I have to use allot. Its got a thicker consistency so I have to either mix with moisturizer or drown my 187 with fix plus… This is also one of the foundations have face and body makes 10 times better!

This was so interesting! Esp how the lightest shade is so different between brands… I’m still searching for my HG and have yet to try MAC’s so I’ll have to get on that as soon as I run out of my billions of drugstore foundations! xxx

Hi Ariel! Thanks for your comment! I was surprised too! Its really frustrating for me never knowing if the shade will be light enough on my skin. I love MAC foundation but Estee Lauder Double Wear will always be my HG and favorite. I need to quit “trying” stuff and just go back to what I know and love, lol.
