Maybelline Color Sensational : Red Revival!
I saw the Maybelline Color Sensational display the other day walking through the store and I have been thinking about this collection ever since. The picture to the left appears to be just a taste of what is actually launching with this collection.
We are getting 48 of these beauty’s! At first glance I talked my self out of purchasing any of them until the drugstore offered a BOGO (buy one get one free) sale or similar. But after seeing that Red Revival from this collection was on the “top ten red lipsticks” list from Elle, I had to go back and get it. (if you haven’t yet, read that blog post its here)
Honestly of all the colors and brands that were mentioned in that article, Maybelline Red Revival was one of my favorite’s. The color is a gorgeous deep berry. The texture is so nice on the lips. Color Sensational reminds me a lot of the MAC Creamsheen formula. The way it looks is wet on the lips and sinks in the same way. Its also beautifully pigmented and the color lasts for hours! In the swatch is after an hours wear
and no lip liner or base.
When I find a drugstore product that I am this excited about, it really makes me take a step back and think. If am this satisfied with $ 7.00 drugstore lipstick, Why am I spending so much more money on other brands? Im not the only one who loves this! Check out what style.com had to say here

@ Naomi Alecia- They are really pretty! I know they are brand new here and I have only seen them in 2 stores. But we dont even have the full collection. Only 12 colors I think. I hope you get to see them soon! Im definitely excited to get more! Let me know what you think once you check them out!

@Houston Living- I have only seen them a couple places, but the full collection isnt in stores yet (that I know of). But all colors I have seen are gorgeous! Do you have Walmart? They are only $5.00 there!

this is a very pretty color, but I'm not a huge fan of red, maybe because I'm not sure where to wear it. Do you have any ideas for me?

@Lizzard- Alot of people wear red as an evening look I wear it every chance I can get though. Diffrent colors are better for certain times I think. A lighter, brighter red maybe better for daytime. A deeper red evening. Thats how I wear them but its diffrent for everyone. what ever you feel comfortable with!
Yes BOGO for sure. None of the drugstore products are going anywhere so being patient just makes us smart consumers!

I was told that Bit of Berry is the one, but judging from some other site's pictures, it couldn't possibly be the shade I'm looking to buy. Do you happen to know by looking at the youtube which shade is the hot pink one? THANK YOU! It's 18 seconds into the video. I'd appreciate it.

Do you know when the full collection will be out? I saw the real purples on the commercial, get to walmart and there are nothing but mauves in the collection. Not what I wantedddd. Haha!! If anyone else knows please let me know. =) Thanks.

From what I understand the full collection should be already out. I know that some stores have a bigger display than others. For example my walgreens has a huge end cap that has all colors. But my CVS has a small selection that only includes maybe 3 or 4 from each color range. Maybe check a couple more stores in your area…. Hope this helped!

I absolutely love this Red Revival color, but the formula is so lip-tearingly dry and so horribly, nauseatingly and headache-inducingly rancid smelling and tasting (not even the sweetest gloss could camouflage it); it would be better suited for oil painting than as a cosmetic.
I was so sad, because I had been looking for a similar color for weeks, but most companies’ “true reds” look orange on me. I am just stunned that this formula apparently has no preservatives to keep it from going quickly rancid on the store shelves, no flavors or fragrances added to cover up the rancidness, and nothing in it to provide any moisture (not whether it is moisturizing on the lips, but simply *any* moisture at all, so it could actually be applied to the lips without pulling, dragging, and removing top layer bits of lip skin; drier than an old gluestick! I have been completely confused by others online who complained of it allegedly being “too creamy”; I *wish* that were one of its problems!); could possibly have made it through Maybelline’s normally competent quality control!
Does anyone know of a dupe of Red Revival from another line or brand?

Hi, I love this color too. Mine is fine as far as being new, but I know exactly what you are saying. One of the colors I bought was totally rancid. I had to through it away instantly. Made me so mad! I will have to compare this shade to other reds I have and get back to you!
