NYX Rouge Cream Blush Review and Swatches

Submitted by Sara on July 21, 2009 – 12:43 pm10 Comments

I love Cream Blush. I feel like it gives such an amazing glow to the skin and looks so natural as opposed to how powder blush can at times look.

I apply the cream blush on top of my wet foundation and then powder on top and it doesn’t loose any of its vibrancy.

All of the cream blushes I have used are from MAC Cosmetics, however the other day I picked up a couple of the NYX Rouge Cream blushes. I got Hot Pink and Red Cheek. Don’t ask me why my pale complected self decided to pick out the most bold and vibrant of the group. But they are beautiful and what I felt my collection was missing I suppose.
These blushes are amazingly pigmented! The color is so intense and creamy, not thick and heavy on the skin at all. However. I have not yet been able to make these work for my complexion. I would love to see a darker skin tone try them out. I just know they would be amazing for someone.

In the swatch they are 1- Hot Pink, 2- Red Cheeks. They are not blended in at all so of course they would pale down a bit but are still very vibrant. But since I am destined to use these in some fashion I tried them on my lips with a lip brush and they were so pretty as a lipstick with a bit of gloss on top! In a way they reminded me as a cream color base so I think I will use them the same way and see how that goes.

Oh …Milan Rouge did swatches on these on her blog a while back and I was gonna buy some on Ebay but will just wait til I'm next in NY to pick a couple up. The quality is so good and they looked amazing on her (but then that girl could wear a paper bag and she'd still look hot to death!).

If you just used a teeeeeeeeeeeny bit and blended away I think you could pull them off.

those colors are so amazing.I too am very pale and usually can't get away with using bright blush colors. I have never tried cream blushes, i do have MAC's Just a pinch and i love that.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE NYX…i have read where some people think it's cheap and not good quality. Everything i have bought from them is amazing and can't beat the price.

    Whoa baby those are BRIGHT!
I’m actually really scared of them.
    And scared of cream blushes.

My pores are yuck-magnets and this seems so perfect for clogging. Good luck working with them, maybe you can mix them with a more neutral cream blush so that the pop of color is there… but without the clown effect. Good luckkk!!!

  • @VexintheCity- ohh Ill have to check her out. I tried the hot pink again today and it worked but I think I blended to much cause it wasn't as vibrant as I wanted! Im determined though!

@ Michelle- So pretty arent they! I know you would love them!

@Rai- Yay! what colors did you get? I went back and got two more today!

@Mama Jen- I have really been happy with most everything I have tried. Sometimes I think people dont like, because they like something better. but there is always something better ya know.

@Lizzard- I think if you have a base on you would be fine. I wear liquid blush, bronzer all that and dont break out. I wear mac prep and prime before foundation though so nothing sinks in… cream blushes do give an amazing glow! youll have to try them! of course a not so bright color:)

i know..just when you say it can't get better..someone comes out with a product that blows your mind…

Ok i have to get that pink blush…it is calling my name..hopefully i will be able to sheer it out enough so i don't look to clownish

I got Tea Rose and Rose Petal.
They actually look pretty similiar, but one is a tad more pinker than the other.

If you didn't get those already, I completely suggest them for you.
They are really nice & very natural looking!
