Pre Launch Party Pictures- MAC Makeup Art Cosmetics Collection

Submitted by Sara on August 11, 2009 – 10:11 pm20 Comments

Tonight was the pre launch party that I mentioned a couple weeks back for the MAC Makeup Art Cosmetics Collection at my local store. The collection was pretty large which you probably already know from reading Specktra or many other beauty sites. I really have been trying to avoid collection hypes so everything was pretty much a surprise to me when I saw it. Which made it fun to check it out without expectation. It was cool cause most everything was new colors and not repromotes.
While we were there I tried to take some good product swatches for you. But by the end of the evening they were smudged and wouldn’t have been very helpful to you in seeing true color. But in case your curious there are lots of swatches here
Since I failed you with the product photos I made sure to take lots of launch party. My friend Tara and I attended the event together. I have learned one thing from past events. Get there early! There is only a certain amount of people that go in the store at a time, and you cant go in until people leave. So if you dont want to wait in line all evening. Again. Get there early…. :) We arrived about 6:45pm and before the crowd. So we were able to get in and see, drink and observe.

They had “Artists” on site who were creating portraits for the people who attended the event. They were doing a fantastic job and it was really fun to watch. We meant to get in line for ours but didn’t remember until we were already gone! There were waiters who were walking around with wine and hors d’oeuvre and the Mac Artists and Freelancers were applying makeup and answering every ones Collection questions!

Picture taken from the register as we were finishing our wine and confirming our purchases.

After an hour we left with our bag and took a quick pic on the way out. Tara, thank you so much for coming with me! I had so much fun!! Check out the crowd that was waiting as we left… I wonder if they are still there? Just kidding!

We also got a poster as a gift. Yay! So excited. Check out images below!

So usually I am able to somehow justify buying absolutely everything from every Mac Collection. But lately I am proud to say that the past few months I have really been being a very smart consumer and only buying what I found practical as well as diffrent colors/ items my collection was lacking instead of buying everything “pretty” I left with 4 items from the collection. The Perfect Cheek Matte blush- gorgeous, Brash and Bold Pigment- An amazing intense hugely pigment pink, Off the page eyeshadow-bright creamy orange and Young Thing lipglass- pretty nude with gold.

I’m pretty excited about the things I brought home and feel like they are different from other items I already own. Here are some swatches of the above items.

Im excited to know your thoughts on this upcoming collection. Anything you are eyeing?

    Sara,
It looks like you two had fun! I would have loved to see the portraits! I'm thinking about picking up Cocomotion pigment.

Also, you've been tagged, by me!

    thanks for sharing….
and not so much for making me want practically everything from the collection..

i was planning only to get violet trance, two of the quads and heritage rouge but then i realized how gorgeous brash and bold is…

oh.. and did you get to swatch all the shadows?? cause if you did, did you find them dupable? especially the quads and violet trance.. i find purple shower not so unique so gotta give it a miss..

    thanks again

  • @ Crystal S- Thanks so much for the tag! Im on my way to go check it out! Cocomotion was really pretty!

@XOvintage love- Good luck on finding a poster! im sure they will start popping up everyone! That seems to always be the case! yes the jars are two big. I always take what I want and usually sell the rest on livejournal or specktra. lol

@Jbreezybaby- Im 20 minutes from San Francisco. I know that stores rotate launch parties though for events. The last party my store had was Cult of Cherry. The Pro store in SF did Hello Kitty, etc. But they are all easy to get too and super fun! I wish you had a store close by too!!

@Mystic Queen- haha. Honestly in my opinion alot of the items from the collection were skippable. If youve been collecting mac for a while you have similar colors. like the quads for example. Pretty color combos. But you have similar colors already at home Im sure. I really was planning to pick one up but couldn't convince myself I needed any of them. Violet Trance is something I already had in my pandamonium quad. I love that color. It reminds me of mufe 92 but isnt an exact match.

@Sizbelle- The pink was amazingly intense. Artists with darker skin were wearing it and it was still so bold! Im gonna play with it today! I usually wear pink on the lid with black and do a different smokey eye. but I got to think of a few more combinations if Im gonna put a dent in that jar, haha

@Everyone- Thanks for you comments! Its was great fun!!

this collection's quads are just so pretty. i'm just like you, well, the old you, i guess. I'm tempted to buy anything pretty!! But now, i also need to think if i have those shades at home. a slight difference in color won't be noticeable once applied.

This collection really has amazing colors!! i'm excited to swatch them when they lauch over where i live
