Scared of Flying… (with Makeup)
My best friend from High school is getting married next weekend. I have been preparing for this trip to the terribly hot area of Scottsdale for months now. I have been going back and forth on what to wear, what to bring, etc. But it just dawned on me today that I have to pack my makeup, and I had promised to bring a alot of different makeup not only for myself but to help the bride put her wedding look together.
I have a train case from NYX Cosmetics that I love so much. I always use this when I travel by car, But due to its size I could not carry it onto the plane and I am scared to know how my case would be treated by the airline workers in the baggage area.
For any moms out there or kids at heart. Surely you remember the scene in Toy Story 2 where the all the toys go to get Jesse back and the workers are throwing the luggage without a care and bags are opened, things are lost, items are broken… and so on.
Now of course I really don’t think all of this will happen. But this is the image that runs though my head when I imagine my train case thrown down the dolly and everything inside banging together and shattering to pieces.
So my question is, How do I travel with makeup? I need to ensure I bring enough makeup but yet avoid my nightmare from becoming reality…. When you fly how much do you bring? How do you pack it? Carry on or stow away? Let me know! Please!
BTW- I will be flying out on the 1st of September and back late that weekend. So I may be a bit quiet for the next week as I am getting ready to go and of course while I am gone:)

Yes, it would definitely be a problem, what with everything being loose inside of the case. The only options I can think of are to individually wrap everything (which would be incredibly time consuming) or to carry it on the plane, which would be a problem with liquid items. So I guess the best bet is to just securely package everything in there as best you can. Hope that helps!

I'm afraid in general of getting on a plane these days.
lol BUT YOU DO CARRY-ON…HOLD THAT BAG WITH YOU!
Just don't bring that much makeup.. if it's possible.
I'm always struggling to do that sometimes.

You have to put the make-up down below. My dad travels a lot and told me about all the make-up artists that have been told they could bring there make-up on the plane without being put in the storage. Try to pack it carefully. I've seen them take out items and throw them away. You have to remember the TSA rules. http://www.tsa.gov/311/index.shtm

first and most importantly – CONGRATULATIONS to your dear friend!
second, scottsdale, arizona is the bomb, arizona in general is my favorite state! i looove the heat!
lastly, i always pack my makeup in my big suitcase between clothing so it has padding. i'll be honest, i dont think they are going to let all that makeup in as a carry-on, but it would never hurt to call and ask, and call a few times so you get different people to check the consistency.
Good luck! I'll miss you!!! …and will be expecting tons of wedding pictures

what i have always done especially when carrying lots of makeup is any powders, and lipglosses/lipsticks/mascaras or any liquids etc that are under the 3 fl oz rule i carry on…not in a traincase but in a duffle bag or carryon type bag. what i do is line the bottom with a blanket or sweatshirt and set as much on that then put a layer of bubble wrap and more makeup and so on. anything over the 3. 4 oz liquid i put in my suitcase packaged carefully. i just stick them in between clothing and inside a shoe etc….might not be much help but works for me!
good luck!

hahahaha I TOTALLY KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN! Last time I checked my baggage with my makeup baggie, all my eyeshadows were broken and I was mad
try to bring your solids on board with you in a pouch or something. put the lip products in the train case and throw them in the bag, they will be fine no matter how much throwing around they go through. you just dont want your solids to shatter. Then when you land or get there, then organize your train case
Enjoy the wedding and have fun hun! let us know how it goes!

I'd suggest carry on! For sure so that you know & for the sake of your sanity (lol) that your makeup is safe. What I do is pack everything seperately. Brushes in a makeup pouch, foundations & primers in another section of a bag & you get the point. You'll just have to pack everyting individually so they don't bang around too much.

I try not to put my things in cargo. I like to bring my things as carry on. Is the train case too large to bring as carry on? Cause if not, I'd suggest doing that.
