One Little, Two Little… TEN Little Mascaras! Multi Brand Review

Oh where oh where is my perfect mascara? I can almost promise you I have used almost every mascara by every brand. From Department store to Drugstore.. I am constantly trying what’s new, following the hype and hoping for the best…
I have problem lashes. Short, thin and straight. For most people it is easy to find a mascara that you love and that works for you. But for those who have problem lashes like me… here is some of my opinions on the ones I have at home currently…
- L’Oreal Telescopic Explosion- Besides loving the red and black packaging and the fun new Givenchy ‘ish new wand. This works great to grab the short little inner lashes. I love it for my bottom lashes. It really did lengthen my lashes. On the top I don’t like this so much because my lashes are so straight (they wont curl) it looks funny. I prefer volume instead. But for someone else this maybe just what you are looking for! Check out Liz’s review and swatches of the two mascara’s compared!
- Maybelline Pulse Perfection- ok sorry… Not a fan! I hate having to hold the button while applying to get the benefits of the vibration. Wouldn’t have an on/off switch worked better? Secondly Maybe I got to excited trying to suck out the benefits of the vibrating brush and applied to much… or maybe it just made my lashes clumpy and gross. Seriously I applied. Combed through and if I wasn’t on my way to work I would have removed it all and started again. I hated the way my lashes looked and felt.
- Maybelline Colossal Mascara- I love this Mascara. Love. This could be partially due to my short straight wont curl lashes. It doesn’t lengthen (which is perfect for me) but gives great volume! It feels great on my lashes. Not heavy or flaky.
- Stila Multi Effect Mascara- For the ladies with problem lashes like mine.. Dont waste your money. No length. No Volume. It did coat my lashes but it did not help accentuate them in any way! Now I am not saying I dont like Stila Mascara because Stila Lash Visor was fabulous! But Multi Effect is not my friend…
- Bobbi Brown Lash Glamour Mascara- This feel nice on my lashes. adds length but not to much volume. It compares to some of the drugstore I have already mentioned here… So for the price, Ill stick to the supermarket.
- It Cosmetics Try to Look Away Mascara- Check here for full details… So So Stuff for me…
- Revlon Double Twist Mascara- I have mixed feelings about this. I think I like the brush. My lashes are BLACK with this stuff. Definitely added the volume… But it is a little flaky.Want more info? Check out Crystal S review here.
- Mark Make it Big Plumping Mascara- This barely felt as if it was coating my lashes. The brush was really similar to the Stila one above and my opinion is about the same as well.
- Physicians Formula Plump Potion Mascara- I like the way it feels on my lashes. Not dry or flaky. But it. But Plump Potion? Comeon.,.. In my opinion there was no plumping.
- Bare Escentuals Classic Mascara- Very Black. I really am not trying to be repetitive. But again. I dont have much to say about this mascara. Very Black, true. But thats the only benefit it offered me.
All in all. I think Colossal gets my vote for Favorite out of the 10 above. Have you tried any of the mentioned products? What are your thoughts??
Psst… with all my mascara drama I have really been considering lash extensions… Any one done it? Share your experience!

i love mascaras..i usually just buy drugstore brands because i have bought higher end in the past and have been disappointed. Lash Blast and Colossal are 2 of my faves right now…there are still so many i want to try!

I agree about the colossal, the only downside is the smell, though it doesn't bother me too much. I'm lucky 'cause I have really long lashes, but colossal gives me great volume.

@Icecoldilly! I know what you mean. The smell only bugs me for a minute. I think I am actually gotten useto it. after I apply I dont even notice! Enving those long lashes

Hmm, I'm not too sure! I think at first I can get a mascara and hate it, but then I have to work it for a while and by the end I'll love it or I'll be satisfied by it.
My only hate was Maybelline Lash Stylist. That stuff I HATED.

Revlon Double Twist, talk about the volume va-va-vaVOOM! but the flakiness is overbearing, I won't buy that one again for sure.

I wanted to try the vibrating mascara but i feel like it really wont do anything at all. I want to try the colosal one! Is it as good as the lash blast or even better?

Colossal is a wonderful mascara! Love it. Before MaxFactor changed the packaging (and I assume the formula) for their 2000 Calorie Mascara, I used to swear by that product. It just isn't the same anymore. Maybelline's Lash Stylist works really well for me, and I tend to use that with Colassal on a daily basis.
My friend got lash extensions and she wasn't happy with the results at all.
I had my lashes dyed black a few years ago and that also was a waste of $10.
Mascara is the way to go. And when the occasion calls for it – fake lashes.

Wow thats a lot of mascaras! hehehe :0 I have only tried one of those. Oh i think i got to try the telescopic mascara hen it came out a few years ago and it lengthened and curled my lashes very well. Change in formula I guess? Didnt like The Colossal Mascara too much. I ended up having black crumbs on my undereyes after a few hours :/

@jbreezybaby- I never tried lashblast. So I am not sure how they compare. But I love colossal! I think Em on too much blush said she liked lash blast better… I think I will try it next!
@Steph- Yeah! Another vote for colossal! I never tried the max factor one. I am not sure if I should now that the formula is different! Thanks for the words on extensions! Makes perfect sense!
@Sush- ahhh. im sorry for the crumbs. I think I like the telescopic. been quite a while since I used it though! I know I loved the liner with the felt tip!
