Tools for a Custom Banner or Header….
Hey everyone! I get a lot of comments from you all on my banner or header on the top of my page. I think its always fun to personalize the look of your blog so I just wanted to share with you some of the tools I use when creating the “look” of my site.
There are many sites where you can purchase graphics. Some being a lot more expensive than others. The most inexpensive site I have found is called Vector Stock. Images are about $1.00 each which is very inexpensive if you have looked around compared to a lot of sites that charge $15.00 or more dollars per image. Vector Stock also has a section that offers free graphics that change periodically. When I am looking for images I search for Borders, Frames etc to find a group of images I can use as a starting point for my header image.
Once you have the images that you want to use there are a couple ways to edit the image. A program I have downloaded for free that I love is called Photo Filtre for PC. This is fabulous beginner software that does a lot of common tricks found in Photoshop or more expensive software. If you dont want to download anything on your computer or if you have a MAC a great online tool would be My Theme Photo Editor. Both of these tools help you create transparent images, change colors, resize images or just about anything else you would need to do in creating your banner. Hint: Transparency is the key in stacking images on top of each other!
There are also numerous other places to find free font (text) on the net. But one of my favorites is Dafont. This has fonts you can download for MAC and PC. However the fonts are something you must install on your computer so they will only work with the photo editor system that you download, but if you decide to use the web tool they already have quite a few fonts installed in their software for your use.
All of this is definitely one of those things that you learn as you go. Try and see what you come up with! I hope you find these tools useful and if you decide to create a custom banner let me know! I would love to see it!!

I'm using Photfiltre, & in my opinion, it's just as good as Photoshop. & a lot easier (=
