Maybelline Lasting Drama Eye Studio 24 hour Gel Eyeliner- Swatches and Review
Let me start off by saying, I trully believe the drugstore brands have been stepping up their game! So many new products. Nicer packaging, Better quality, true pigment and more! I am finding so many things in the drugstore that I am loving these days. So you can imagine when I saw the Maybelline Lasting Drama Eye Studio 24 hour Gel Eyeliner I couldnt wait to give it a go, But being the smart consumer that I try to be, I waited untill a Walgreens sale and it picked it up for around $5.00!Gel Eyeliner is a must have for me on any day of the week. I love the depth of the color and how it applies and dries for long finish! I have used probably most versions of this product by most common brands and they are all similar mostly. The one thing that is diffrent about this product compared to MAC Blacktrack fluidline for example, is that the maybelline version is not as soft. When you dip into it it picks up plenty of color but doesnt make a mess of your pot!
The color I bought was Carbon. This is more of a steel grey color. The closest comparison I can thick of it would be MAC Fluidline in Litograph. So if you missed that, this is definitely something you would want to grab.
Left is Maybelline Lasting Drama Eye Studio 24 hour Gel Eyeliner, Next is MAC Litograph Fluidline and last is Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink. You can see the first 2 very close in color. The Black swatch is just intended to help you compare the grey to black
I really did like this product. I tried the brush it came with and though it is very soft it didn’t allow me to create the same line I am use to with my angled brush. The eyeliner its self applied easily as I mentioned above and stayed all day . I would not hesitate to purchase again!

Does it have some form of shimmer in it because from the pictures it looks like some little specks of it are in it.

Kim- It does have a bit of shimmer in it… Its not matte that is for sure… How it appears in the swatch is how it appears on the eye. Its a fine shimmer though.. The glitter doesn’t look chunky at all!
Scarlet Holly- I know, me too! lol. I love the Stila smudgepots but honestly I use them as a base. I always forget to try them as liners. Note to self… lol… Let me know if you try them! Id love to hear what you think. Thanks for the other comparison example!

I’m kind of obsessed with gel eyeliners. I love Bobbi Brown and MAC, and the Stila smudge pot disappoints. I’m definitely going to look for a deal for this. Carbon looks like Graphite Shimmer by BB.

ahh how awesome! i’m gonna have to try it out, i’ve really been into cream liners lately. btw – on IE7 i really have a hard time seeing your page, i get some notification and then it just brings me to an error page so i am currently using firefox. just fyi to check code or what not

Im not sure.. I havent heard any one discuss this for oily lids. my lids arent oily so I cant really speak on it. But I know it does dry very quickly once applied. Do you use a base now that works for you lids? I imagine that would help this stay in place as well… I am very curious too! If I find anything else out on this I will let you know!

Oh I will have to try these…I am currently test driving the HIP Color Chrome Eyeliner in Black Smoke and the Milani Liquif’eye eyeliner in Black…they claim to be smudge proof …so far I have tested them on my hand and they haven’t smudged yet…I’m about 8 hrs in…and they are really black and intense in color

I love gel liners, but that maybelline seems a bit to gray for my taste..it is pretty though.

Hey there! Yes carbon is a bit grey… But they do have a true black shade. This one is not the darkest. I have so many black liners I decided to experiment with this one instead!!

THIS IS THE BEST EYELINER I HAVE EVER TRIED! I even bought some for my daughter,it lasts all day until she takes it off! Its about time drug store makeup is improving!
