Laura Mercier Lipstains Swatches and Review

Submitted by Sara on March 15, 2010 – 12:03 pm6 Comments

Lip stains have always been a favorite Lip item of mine. But the lip stains from Laura Mercier are not the typical product you would expect. Most lip stains we encounter are a liquid type applied with a brush or applicator that soak into the lips upon application. These lip stains come in a nice size pot and are a solid texture. Upon first glance they compare to a chapstick pot or something similar. But are definitely completely different. Best application would be with a lip brush. When you dip in your brush it doesn’t sink in, it just glides across the top of the product. It picks up the smallest amount of the shade – but enough to give you amazing color. I cant imagine ever running out of a pot.  When applied it feels as if you have nothing on the lips and the stains are not the least bit drying.

Swatched above are six fabulous colors of the lip stains in Shy Pink, Peach Glaze, Mocha, Mulberry, Sugar Violet and Scarlet.

All of them are very pretty and unique from each other. A definite prize for any stain lover!

Tell me more about lip stains. I have never heard of them. Since I am older, do they settle in to the cracks of your lips? Also, are they glossy or more of a matte finish? I use glosses and not lipstick because of the heaviness of the lipstick. The glosses seem to wear off quickly, and a ‘stain’ sounds like it would stay on longer.

Ohh interesting, I don’t think I’ve ever seen lipstains in a jar like this before! Thanks for the review and swatches, I may just check these out. :)

    Janine- Definitely! I love them!

    Christel- Of course!

Lana- They are really nice. I haven’t noticed any settling. They are pretty matte in texture and thin in consistency. They soak in and the product is not obvious. just the color. I put it in this morning, I ate lunch and dinner and scarlet is still on my lips. I have touched up once during the day. It really does stay for a long time!!

SoVeryFabulous- Yeah its a different idea but they are definitely “stains”! Check em out, let me know what you think!
