Camera Tip- Manually Adjusting Your Light and Flash
Whenever I take pictures for my blog, I take a ton of pictures. I take them… stare at them, delete them, crop them. try to see which is truest to color. You all know what I mean. If I am posting a picture that looks nothing like the item, whats the point?
I have been really frustrated with this circle of events lately so I have been looking at purchasing a new camera. I really like my camera but I really was looking for a way to make this process easier.
I finally asked a photographer friend today if he could recommend a new camera for me that would work the best for the kind of makeup pictures I take. I showed him my camera ( for the record is a Panasonic Lumix) he told me….
The camera I have is fine for what I am looking to do. If I am taking pictures in the same location everytime I can….
- Plug in a lamp and turn the camera flash off completely. This would stop the burst of light from distorting the color.
- OR leave my flash on my camera but cover the lense with a piece of tissue. One layer or two depending on how much light you want to let into the shot.
So I followed trick #2 and check out the difference in the photos below..
Below are Pictures taken with normal flash and then covered with tissue to the right. Click on the image for larger view.
Just wanted to share in case one of you might find this tip as helpful as I did!

Great tip to know thanks for sharing! I hate sitting there taking millions of pictures on ever possible setting and sitting through the editing… *sighs*

That was VERY helpful. I’m trying to get my pictures to come out better but they never do. I still think it’s because my cam is old. I’m still going to buy a new one but these tricks will help until I find something better.
