Swatches, Thoughts and Review of Exposed Organics
Exposed Organics is a completely new brand to me. I had never heard of this company until I began talking to Celeste on Twitter (who is the owner). I probably would have skipped over ordering completely if I didn’t like Celeste as much as I did. She has a Youtube channel where she discusses her products and how to use them. I love the energy and passion she puts into every video. This was the true selling point for me.
I went online to order a couple items one evening but couldn’t bring myself to pay the $9.00 shipping price that I was being charged on the site. The more I added to my cart the higher my shipping went! Lucky for me a 20% discount code was announced a couple days later. Using this code gave me about the same discount as what the shipping was which mentally allowed me to place my order. As many of you may know. I cant stand to pay shipping… I understand the cost of doing business. But I am much more likely to spend the high dollar mark a site may offer free shipping for verses paying the shipping price… I received the package that I had ordered from Exposed Organics and this is what I saw… Again. My shipping issue.
My order from the company consisted of a $25.00 Beauty Box and an Organic Foundation. The Beauty Box I ordered came with 3 full size eye shadows, 1 lip glaze, 1 nectar and 1 sample size of the plain jane purifying oil.
A couple thoughts…
Eyeshadows. My first feeling when I saw the “random” colors that were included in the box was a bit of disappointment. The 3 that were included in my package were colors I never would have chosen on my own. When I went to actually use the shadows they were easy to use and I did find them adhering well (on top of mac painterly paint pot) but because of the pastel shades it did take a bit more effort to get them to show up on my skintone.
The colors I have worn have stayed put all day on my eye and did not fade. So in darker colors I might have been a lot more excited about these items. I can say that the value you get for the money is great! 7grams for $4.99. This is alot of shadow!
Swatches above are all vegan shadows in shades Primavera, Sapphire and Iris. The lip swatch is Lipglaze in Lotus alone.
The Lipglaze was again another shade I wouldn’t have chosen. But I did really like the payoff of this color. Its nothing like it looks in the tube. It applies almost like a stain. It is very light on the lips and lasts well. I really did like this product.
The Plain Jane Cleansing Oil really does a great job off getting off all my makeup. I followed the instructions as printed on the bottle exactly. To truly test I did not remove any of my makeup prior to applying the oil. I put a quarter size amount in my hand and massaged into my face. When I went to remove almost all my makeup came off, except a bit of eyeliner which can only be expected. This left my face feeling soft and clean. This was such an easy process and I am definitely a fan.
The Nector and Foundation I plain to use a bit more before reviewing. So look forward to that in upcoming posts.
Have you tried anything from this brand? What are your thoughts on the above?

Youch! $9 shipping when it cost the business under $4?! I’d be pretty annoyed. I agree with you completely. I would rather pay more in product to get shipping free – especially when it’s obviously a rip off. I mean, the packaging couldn’t have cost $5!

I have heard great things about this company and would love to order from them but I am going to have to wait for a code because I can’t deal with shipping that high when I see it wasn’t that much. Now I know that shipping is the wrapping used, packaging, etc but yeah….I love the swatches though and I heard the highlight is wonderful especially for women of color to use to use…..seriously tempted to place a small order

Hi KT! Let me just say that if you just order a couple shadows or such the shipping is $3 to $4 dollars. But the more items the more it cost. The beauty box was automatically a $9.00 shipping I think. I would love to see these colors on WOC! It was hard to get them to show up on me, but im sure they would look amazing on darker skintones!

WOW!! Even US priority for a flat rate box is only $4.95….. I think when you are going to overcharge on shipping …at least don’t have the shipping price on the box…..Also this is why I stopped ordering from a lot of Hair Care companies because shipping was sometimes more than one of the products themselves….Like $10 for shipping to ship a $8 bottle shampoo….
These items are all small enough that there is no reason they couldn’t have shipped priority to show where some of the money went……
Pity…But to be honest the colors aren’t really doing much for me anyway…….But I guess thats the downside of random selection…you may get random nothings
