New Stila Backstage Palette- Swatches and Review
I know you all probably wont believe me, but I really do try and restrict myself when it comes to my cosmetic purchases. I buy much less than I want too, I promise!
For the last month I have been going crazy over the New Private Affair Palette from Lorac and the New Stila Backstage Palette. I have wanted them but refused to buy them. Last week I came across the Stila palette on eBay and convinced myself if I am able to get it at a discount I will be completely justified in purchasing it. I lost 2 auctions and then finally won 1! So I was able to get Stila’s Backstage palette shipped for $16.00! )a great savings from Sephoras $28.00 plus $9.25 California’s sales tax). Honestly I always have a hard time paying full retail for this brand anyway because as soon as I do I always seem to find it deeply discounted on some random site.
With the proper disclosure made- Lets get on to my prize!
The palette comes nicely packaged in a pretty small purple almost embossed case.
The Stila Backstage Eyeshadow palette comes with 6 gorgeous colors which are Chiffon, Flamingo, pacific, luster, poetic and coal. The colors are not really original. But again I am a sucker for appealing combinations. Flamingo reminds me of MAC Pink pearl pigment or Stars and Rockets shadow. Luster makes me think of Mark Tiki or MAC Woodwinked shadow. Poetic is similar to Urban Decays Last call. My favorite shadow from the palette is Coal. However I wish the name was different. Its completely deceiving. When I think of coal, I expect to see dark black. This shadow is a gorgeous blackened teal green, similar to MAC pigment in Deep Blue Green.
See for your self in the swatches below.
The shadows are all super smooth, soft and apply easily. I have always been a fan of Stila shadows and these don’t disappoint. So I’m really excited I was able to pick this up for a steal. I hope I can grab the Lorac Private Affair for a discount as well… fingers crossed for me!

OMG SARA! That’s a good deal.
I was eyeing this palette (as if I need anymore lol!) The colors look lovely. Definitely shades I tend to wear.
I justify any purchase if I can get a discount, freebie, or free shipping. Those 3 always get me to spend.

Hi Angela. I know what you mean on price. But if you are really looking to pick up some things from stila try beautycrunch.com or beautyticket.com or even ebay. They always have closeout stuff ridiculously cheap. Stila puts out so many kits people always break them apart and sell them on ebay. I have bought quite a few items from Stila on ebay without a problem! Thanks for commenting!

I justify my unnecessary purchase by working overtime! LOL jk
No but really, i love these colors too! Thats a steal, im telling you ebay is addicting =) last night i was on their and i get so mad when i want something bad and they start winning me haha, im like its ok ill bet this much more.. lol but i’ve already put a mentality no im not gonna spend more than $___this you know, cause then otherwise i’d be broke LOL!

hahha! I do that too, lol! I know right! You have to add everything on your watch list and then go back before the auction ends. Then people think no one is interested and they dont raise the bids. Everytime I do that I win and for less, lol!

Yes look into them! But honestly there are so many sites that sell stila after market for cheap. Try beautyticket.com or beautycrunch.com they sell super cheap. It would be a great way for you to try some stuff out. Even stilacosmetics.com has kits that are pretty cheap sometimes as well!!

Super pretty! I’m loving Coal as well…although since the other colors are easily dupe-able with stuff I already own, I’m (thankfully) not lemming for this…

Oh wow! This palette is absolutely gorgeous!!!! Oh oh…I think I sense a purchase coming on! hahaha I will also check out eBay
Do you have a post/swatches on the Private Affair Palette from Lorac? I really like Lorac – good quality. The only thing I ever really owned from Stila was their glosses and lip stains.
