A Quick Run Though on My Weekend at The Makeup Show LA full details to come!

This year… 2011 was my first year attending The Makeup Show Los Angeles. For the last couple years I have contemplated whether to attend IMATS or The Makeup Show. Every year the shows sneak up on me and I end up missing them both. Not this time. This year I decided I wasn’t going to waste anytime contemplating events. I was going to check out The Makeup Show.

Let me start off by saying…. I am SO glad I did.

I have so much to tell you about this weekend. I have products to show you. I have reviews to complete, Interviews to post and pictures..yes I took way too many. All of those details are coming but But before we get to all of the above let me give you a brief run through of my weekend.

I headed to the airport on Friday ready for my trip to downtown LA. Excited to go to The Makeup Show LA. I got to the airport and got in line to board the 10:35 to LA. ( I may sound a bit repetitive with the word LA but you will soon see where I am going with this). I handed the attendant my boarding pass and started to walk onto the plane to LA. She quickly chased after me to tell me, I was on the wrong flight…. What? So I check my pass again and with all my eagerness to arrive in LA I forgot that I was flying into BURBANK! So I quickly found out that the Burbank flight was boarding on the complete OPPOSITE side of the airport ELEVEN gates away. So ten minutes to departure I clickty clacked (in my heels) all the way across the airport to catch my flight.  I made it to the gate in the nick of time. Found my seat and spent my flight catching my breath and day dreaming of events to come.

Let me just say that if you are going to downtown LA, Burbank is such an easier flight. Its almost the same distance to downtown and less than half the hassle. Security is a breeze and lines almost dont exist. After arriving in Burbank I immediately went to pick up my very large bag that I had so carefully packed with only my “must haves” for the weekend. I stood and watched the carousel go around for quite sometime until I realized that I was the only one still standing there and there and my bag was no where in sight.

So I headed to my hotel with tear filled eyes after filing a “claim” for my missing bag just praying and hoping that this weekend would only get better. Soon after checking in I headed over to the California Market Center to attend a Blogger Preview Event for The Makeup Show. This was where we got a quick preview of products and brands we can expect to see at the event as well as saw the different exhibitors setting up for the next days show. Following this preview I attended a Makeup Show kick off Mixer. While at the mixer I got a call from the airline letting me know that they had my bag. It was searched by TSA and due to this it missed the flight. Sidenote: While unpacking I found 2 notes from TSA with date and time stamps. My bag was actually searched there and back. I guess all my beauty products where pretty suspicious going though the scanner.

The next day I woke up early to attend the show and was there for the greater part of the day. I got to meet so many other lovely bloggers. It was so much fun to come face with these beautiful online friends. I spent time checking out all the booths and sitting in on some of the speeches and sessions. When the day was over I then headed off to meet the lovely Krissy and friends for dinner at Bottega Louie‘s in downtown LA. The second day of the show I woke up feeling completely drunk on exhaustion. I took some tylenol and went back to sleep. I made it to the show a couple hours later and started the process all over again.

The first day of the show was definitely a lot more laid back than the second. When I arrived the second day I felt as if the crowd had doubled from the day before and it looked like an entirely different group of people. I think if you are only looking to shop than one day is certainly enough to check out all the booths and product. But if you are able to attend the show for two days than do! The seminars and sessions are amazing. The feedback you get from the Artists is fantastic. They all have different tips and tricks and were all inspirational to listen too. Remember The Makeup Show is for Industry professionals, So if you are in the industry this event is something that benefit you in so many ways.

I have so many posts to come that will keep you reading for days (maybe even weeks). I plan to fill you in on all the events I mentioned above so keep your eyes open for those details. But for tonight I am looking forward to getting some good sleep…

While you wait you can check out pictures from The Blogger Event and Cocktail Mixer or the Makeup Show its self

Nite Yall!
