Interview with Stila’s Sarah Lucero before The Makeup Show

I have been loving The Makeup Show for years. I think it is an amazing event for industry specialists to get together to meet like minded people and share the passion for beauty. This year I cant wait to be a part of it.

At this years event there is a long list of amazing makeup artists who will be in attendence, one of those being Stila Cosmetics own Sarah Lucero. I was honored to have the opportunity to ask her a few questions prior to the event.

Sarah, What are your top “go to” beauty items?

My top go to beauty items are beauty blender sponge for cream blush and liquid foundation. I love how it can create a fast and flawless application on all skin types. Its helpful to use as a blotting sponge when too much foundation is sitting on the skin, I just wet the sponge and gently “stamp” the large end over the finished foundation application and it lifts excess product off leaving the skin totally healthy and polished.

I use Weleda Skin Food cream to add glow and natural glossy finish to skin and cheekbones.

Stila Bronzing Tinted Moisturizer (I use this on myself daily)

Stila Convertible Color “Peony” its the perfect beach babe blush and lip tint on everyone and its great to have on hand to boost your makeup in the right direction. I have worn peony everyday for the past 10 years! I love it!

I use ARCONA skincare and love the Triad Pads and Magic White Ice.

What inspires you?

I get inspired by many things…travel, style I spot on random people, art, and fashion. I created several makeup looks backstage for spring 2011 and I was inspired by the sea, beach, and all natural elements found in canyons and the desert. I created the look for Rebecca Minkoff spring campaign and fashion show and the makeup look definitely represented what I saw, loved, and was inspired by.

What do you feel Stila represents?

To me Stila is modern, approachable, and individual. This is true for the product and people behind the brand. I feel that our products are innovative and trendsetting, we are backstage at nick fashion week creating looks and defining our seasonal collections-so we are always modern. Stila products are easy to use for the everyday woman on the go. We have PRO quality products that are requested worldwide by makeup artists. Stila performs as promised. Not only is Stila pro makeup quality, it’s approachable enough for woman to use everyday on themselves to create their favorite individual look.

What makes Stila stand out from other lines?

As a working makeup artist in the industry I love to use many brands in my kit. I am a makeup junkie and I always have been! As a spokesperson for Stila, I would have to say my kit contains 99% Stila and 1% other fun beauty obsessions. I feel Stila products can be stretched to the max. I can use Stila black smudge pot as cat eye liner look or fully loaded heavy smoky eye. Its about stretching a product and making it work for you in any situation, and always getting the best results. The one thing Stila does and will continue to do is involve our executive team working in the field as trainers, makeup artists, and running retail business, to work each season backstage at NYC fashion week. I feel its very important to stay updated with makeup skills and learn new tips and tricks that you can take back and share with your peers and clients.

Is there anything we might see in the future from Stila that we might not expect?

Yes! My very good friend and Director of North American Sales and PRO Artistry at Stila, Dom Briguglio, is the mastermind behind a new exciting PRO community project coming soon to Stila. We are very excited and I know you will be too!
