Playing with Bold Pigments – FOTD

I stayed up late last night and caught up on some favorite you tube videos. Doing this also inspired me to play with some color.

I have so much fun with bright colors but have been going though a very neutral phase lately.

I decided to pull out the pigments and  have a little fun.

On my eye I used mac Bare Canvas Paint, Gesso eyeshadow (Highlight), MAC Teal pigment (lid) Ben Nye Azalea (crease) MAC Grape ( inner crease) and Bobby Brown Black gel liner. For those of you wondering, YES I got my brows done today! Sometimes the weekend doesn’t come soon enough!

On my lips is some more Lady Gaga Lipstick topped with Lavenderwind Gloss. This has got to be an all time favorite pinky lip combination for me! Read the rest of this entry »

Buxom Leatherette Gel Lash Liner and Enhancing Conditioning Treatment

I was online looking for a way to spend my Sephora VIB coupon and I ran across a new product from Bare Escentuals. The brand is now offer a product called Buxom Lash Liner AND Lash Enhancing Conditioning Treatment.
This product is very similar to MAC Fluidline (in Black track) or another version of a gel liner. More…
The difference is that this liner claims to contain a thickening conditioning agent that will help take your lashes to new volumes! Click the picture below for the full instructions of the product.

I have problem lashes. Thin, straight and almost embarrassing. So anything that tells me that it can make my lashes better without costing hundreds of dollars is something I can never pass up!
I have only used this a coupe of days, so far so I cant speak on the volume- izing benefit quite yet but as far as eyeliner performance- It is fantastic! It is a beautiful dark black color and it stays in place beautifully all day long. Below are a few comparison swatches against some other gel liners.

Buxom Leatherette, Bobbi Brown Black Ink, Urban Decay Zero, MAC Pro black creme liner swatches.

I will definitely be back with more details on the lash conditioning agent but for now I just wanted to share with you this new fabulous eyeliner swatches

One Little, Two Little… TEN Little Mascaras! Multi Brand Review

Oh where oh where is my perfect mascara? I can almost promise you I have used almost every mascara by every brand. From Department store to Drugstore.. I am constantly trying what’s new, following the hype and hoping for the best…

I have problem lashes. Short, thin and straight. For most people it is easy to find a mascara that you love and that works for you. But for those who have problem lashes like me… here is some of my opinions on the ones I have at home currently…

  1. L’Oreal Telescopic Explosion- Besides loving the red and black packaging and the fun new Givenchy ‘ish new wand. This works great to grab the short little inner lashes. I love it for my bottom lashes. It really did lengthen my lashes. On the top I don’t like this so much because my lashes are so straight (they wont curl) it looks funny. I prefer volume instead. But for someone else this maybe just what you are looking for! Check out Liz’s review and swatches of the two mascara’s compared!
  2. Maybelline Pulse Perfection- ok sorry… Not a fan! I hate having to hold the button while applying to get the benefits of the vibration. Wouldn’t have an on/off switch worked better?  Secondly Maybe I got to excited trying to suck out the benefits of the vibrating brush and applied to much… or maybe it just made my lashes clumpy and gross. Seriously I applied. Combed through and if I wasn’t on my way to work I would have removed it all and started again. I hated the way my lashes looked and felt.
  3. Maybelline Colossal Mascara- I love this Mascara. Love. This could be partially due to my short straight wont curl lashes. It doesn’t lengthen (which is perfect for me) but gives great volume! It feels great on my lashes. Not heavy or flaky.
  4. Stila Multi Effect Mascara- For the ladies with problem lashes like mine.. Dont waste your money. No length. No Volume. It did coat my lashes but it did not help accentuate them in any way! Now I am not saying I dont like Stila Mascara because Stila Lash Visor was fabulous! But Multi Effect is not my friend…
  5. Bobbi Brown Lash Glamour Mascara- This feel nice on my lashes. adds length but not to much volume. It compares to some of the drugstore I have already mentioned here… So for the price, Ill stick to the supermarket.
  6. It Cosmetics Try to Look Away Mascara- Check here for full details… So So Stuff for me…
  7. Revlon Double Twist Mascara- I have mixed feelings about this. I think I like the brush. My lashes are BLACK with this stuff. Definitely added the volume… But it is a little flaky.Want more info? Check out Crystal S review here.
  8. Mark Make it Big Plumping Mascara- This barely felt as if it was coating my lashes. The brush was really similar to the Stila one above and my opinion is about the same as well.
  9. Physicians Formula Plump Potion Mascara- I like the way it feels on my lashes. Not dry or flaky. But it. But Plump Potion? Comeon.,.. In my opinion there was no plumping.
  10. Bare Escentuals Classic Mascara- Very Black. I really am not trying to be repetitive. But again. I dont have much to say about this mascara. Very Black, true. But thats the only benefit it offered me.

All in all. I think Colossal  gets my vote for Favorite out of the 10 above. Have you tried any of the mentioned products? What are your thoughts??

Psst…  with all my mascara drama I have really been considering lash extensions… Any one done it? Share your experience!

*Bright* Blue and Pink FOTD

I spent part of today catching up on xsparkage videos and suddenly felt inspired. I really haven’t done a bright look in quite sometime so I decided to break out the “colors” and get started. I really do have fun with color and really miss creating fun looks! Im definitely gonna make a commitment to put the color back in the makeup rotation. I decided to use some random pigments for this look.

For Eyes I used:
Mac Painterly Paint, Ben Nye Lumiere Powder in Cosmic Blue, Medusa Passion (pink), Mac Blue Storm Pigment, Mac Carbon, Bobbi Brown Black Gel Liner
Bobbi Brown Lash Glamour Lengthening Mascara
Sephora Nano Liner in Midnight
For the rest of my face I used
Mac Face and Body Foundation Mixed with Mac Mineralize Foundation. (If you haven’t tried face and body try it! tell you it makes every foundation better).
Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess (with my pale skin I also add a little bit of face and body as well to bring down the color a notch)
Blush was Mac Pink Swoon
NYX Orange lip pencil
Stila Apricot Lipglaze. (it smells like apricot too, yummy)
Thanks for looking! Sara:)
