A Quick Look at the New Coastal Scents Metal Mania Palette
I just got a new palette from Coastal Scents called the Metal Mania Palette. I was really drawn to the jewel tones in this palette. It truly is lovely. But alot of the colors do look a bit like each other which is alittle dissapointing. The range is not as great as I expected.. but then again with as many as 88 shades how much range can I really expect?
Heres a look at the palette from corner to corner… or if you would rather see the full shot click here. Read the rest of this entry »

Mineral Makeup Binge- Story of my Spree Told…
I have been on a mineral kick. Like a serious obsession. Which is crazy for me because this has happened to me a few times before, now I have stacks of pigment shadows that never see the light of day from the last occurrence. Yet here I am placing multiple orders for new products and colors.
Let me tell you about SIX mineral orders I placed from multiple companies as I sat at home alone on a Saturday night. With dear husband out of town and sweet Rissa in bed it was just me, my debit card and my Mac Book… (Insert the eerie music here) Yes Dangerous!
I am always looking for an amazing gold and red eye shadow color. But never feel like I find the right shade I am looking for. The gold’s are to green and the red’s are to pink or to burgundy. So with this evening to myself I set out in hunt of the perfect shades of each color above and on my way found so much!
Let me disclose- I am not a pro on mineral makeup. What I am discussing is my experience purchasing and what I thought of the company and review of the colors from a makeup lover’s standpoint. As far as which mineral companies repackage, mix their own product, whether they are vegan and so on… I don’t really know how the companies below fall into those categories. I found most of the companies listed from blogs that I found to be informative and reliable in my search as well as used price, shipping time, and color selection as other deciding factors as to which companies I purchased from.
I first hit up Lisa Kate’s Blog- This beauty lover has purchased from more mineral makeup companies then I ever even knew existed as well as discussed them and swatched the products on her blog. I found a list of companies that she recommended and began my search from there.
Another couple of blogs I came across that I found really helpful were Le Gothique and Fresco Phyrra. These bloggers had a lot of great reviews on different mineral companies and what to expect when ordering from them. This was definitely a plus for me especially when I didn’t have a lot of experience ordering from these independant brands before.
With this said let me tell you a bit about what I experienced with each company. I have posted swatches, pictures and information in separate posts that are linked below.
- Beautiful Girl Minerals
- Star Dust Color Minerals
- Glamour Doll Eye shadows
- Taylor Made Minerals-
- Detrivore Cosmetics
- Alima Pure
I went a couple days and then went back and placed an order at these places too….
- Aromaleigh (order 1)
- Aromaleigh (order 2)
- Fyrinnae
- About Face/ The She Space
Who’d I miss? jk
I hate sample bags. I understand the purpose of using them, they are obviuously cheaper to ship and the benefit of purchasing them is only to try the product of course. Even with that said I (companies- please note) I will always pay the higher price to get a sample in a jar if available. I had thought I might be able to take the product out of the bag and put it into a jar but with this small amount it is such an effort. You end up with so much wasted product that is stuck to the side of the bag. Even with this said. I cant complain due to the fact that I got to test out some fabulous colors and post up some super swatches for you all!
Its funny going back though all the samples I have received they have all started to look alike. I guess its very clear which sort of colors I like because each group of samples from the different companies tend to be from the same color groups. Reds, Gold, Blues, Purples mostly and some misc of other shades that stood out at the time.
I really was trying to organize all the mineral information that I have posted lately. I hope this post was able to do that for you all. I know it’s definitely a lot of information! Even for me! But as always, any questions let me know!
